in long beach, new york. the entire community devastated by super storm sandy nearly two weeks ago. many of the residents say the lack of power, basic necessity says making the recovery effort much more difficult. anna is live. what kind of progress are you seeing with the cleanup? >> reporter: gregg, the cleanup efforts it's been mixed. we have seen a lot of people cleaning clearing out their homes and backhoes coming in and picking up the debris but only a few feet away you see these cars they look like they have been forgotten for two weeks. there is sea gunk underneath them. we talked to the red cross and $40-50 million has been invested by them into relief and urging everybody to clean up because of concerns over mold. other health concern is carbon monoxide poisoning. a woman in ocean side died after she had a generator she was using in her garage. concerns over power go it's coming back in pockets. really the numbers to be misleading we're getting from power companies because they don't include tens of thousands of storm ravaged victims whose electrical systems that the power comp

home management here today. adt. always there. >>> hurricane sandy left a trail of destruction in its wake. it also left us with this statistic. three of the ten biggest floods in lower manhattan since 1900 have occurred in the last three years, and it's not just new york. freak weather seems to be here to stay all over the globe. on the one hand, the world needs to think about how to stop or reverse climate change, but in the meantime, we will have to figure out how to adapt to what is becoming a new normal. i'm joined by two distinguished experts. brian walsh, a senior writer for "time" magazine. he wrote a story on how to timeproof a city and jeff is the director of columbia university's earth institute. jeff, to what extent can we link climate change to hurricane sandy? what would be the fairest way to describe it? >> one thing we can start with is the ocean level has risen and the earn seaboard by almost a foot during the past century, and that means that storm surges are all the more extreme. the flooding was made worse by that and the sea level keeps rising and it keeps rising

of people are pricing in optimism from sandy. the stock has outperformed the s&p since the 26th of october by 4%. you ought to take a look at the 10k goldman sachs report out and what they have said, what they have been talking about is the fact that the repair and remodel business is at the end of the week. in the meantime since the beginning of october we have seen increase in lumber prices of over 10%. 20% of the net comes from lumber. and millwork. you see an increase in the input cost. you might get incremental sales out of that. plus, they still have sales comps to look at from last year, hurricane irene. there is a lot of good news priced in and maybe not bad news. fundamentally i think it might be a little overvalued here. >> mike is bearish. he is also buying a put spread. we did go through the play book with dan's trade. let's get straight to the trade, mike. >> very simply, i'll do something similar to what dan did. i am going to buy a put spread specifically the january 57.5 puts and then sell the 55s against it for 70 cents. a spread worth 2 1/2 dollars. obviously less than 1%
